If you are getting ready for Masinagudi adventure, here are a few things to bear in mind.
- Masinagudi is ideally a 2 nights / 3 day destination and can be a stopover destination before Ooty. But you can always stay as much as you like, of course.
- A pair of tough walking shoes, trousers and an umbrella is a must. If you are here during summer, don’t forget your hats and sunscreen. Sweaters can be quite handy during winter.
- Rainy season can get the place become a bit slippery so it is better to avoid heavy treks.
Reaching Masinagudi by road from both sides (Mysore and Calicut) is not a difficult task. From Mysore, one can take the NH 212 till Gundlupet and then continue just 40kms on Ooty bound NH67 thereon till Theppakkad and then deviate to Masinagudi. From Calicut, one can take the Nilambur-Gudalur route, again till Theppakkad and proceed further to Masinagudi.
The nearest airports to Masinagudi are Mysore (97kms), Coimbatore (115kms) and Calicut (135kms)
Nearest Railway stations are Ooty (32kms), Coonoor (57kms) and Chamarajanagar (75kms)
